Giving

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

(2 Corinthians 9: 8-9)

Understanding Tithes and Offerings:

What is Tithing?

Tithing is giving a portion of the money God has given you to manage back to him.

Who should Tithe?

Everyone! God provides each one of us our money to use to take care of ourselves, our families, and our neighbors. Giving a portion of this money to the church allows us to further Gods kingdom here on Earth.

How much should I be giving?

Why not ask "How much can I give?" Almost everyone you ask will have a different view on how much should be given, and how often. Most people beleive that 10% is the magic number for a tithe, but when you read about tithing in the Bible you'll learn that is really the minimum that should be given. Tithing should really be individualized, according to his or her abundance and conviction. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor 9:8) so give from your heart, not because you "have" to.

Who should I Tithe to?

The local church of which you are getting fed is what the tithing is for and should go, then as the Lord leads you can give offerings which are separate than tithes and they should go to other originations you feel in your heart to give too such as missions, radio, TV, crusades, individuals in need and other ministries.

Where can I learn more?

Malachi chapter 3 being the bases for tithing and we also get a promise from God in Proverbs 3:9 then see 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 as the principle continues in the New Testament.
