You Can Have A Relationship With Jesus Christ

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not me.” Romans 3:10

Every person is valuable in God’s eyes because God created us in his image and he loves us.  But no one is righteous (that is, no one can earn the right standing with God).  Though valuable, we have fallen into sin.  But God through Jesus His Son, has made redemption available to us and offers to forgive us if we return to Him in faith.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Some sins seem bigger than others because their obvious consequences are much more serious.  Murder, for example, seems to us to be the worse than hatred and adultery seems worse than lust.  But this doesn’t mean that because we do lesser sins we deserve eternal life.  All sin separates us from God, but they all can be forgiven, regardless of how great or small they seem.

“But God commandeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

While we were yet sinners- these are amazing words.  God sent Jesus to die for us, not because we were good enough, but because he loved us.  Whenever you feel uncertain about God’s love for you, remember that he loved you even before you turned to him.  If God loved you when you were a rebel, he can surely strengthen you, now that you him in return.

“For the wages of sin (is) death; but the gift of God (is) eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Eternal life is a free gift from God.  If it is a gift, then it is not something that we earn, nor something that must be paid back.  Our salvation is a gift of God, not something of our own doing (Ephesians 2:8,9).  He saved us because of his mercy, not because of anything righteous things that we have done (Titus 3:5).  How much more we should accept with thanksgiving the gift that God has freely given to us.

“That if you shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Salvation is as close as your own mouth and heart.  People think it must be a complicated process, but it is not.  If we believe in our hearts and say with our mouths that Christ is the risen Lord, we will be saved.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Romans 10:13

If you believe these things and desire to have a personal relationship with the Savior that God has provided for us through His Son Jesus Christ, you can receive Him right now by faith through prayer.  (Prayer is talking with God)

God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as he is the attitude of your heart.

The following is a suggested prayer but all God really wants is for you to speak to Him from your heart.

Lord Jesus, I understand that I am a sinner.  I need you.  I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that you are the Son of God and that you have given your life on the cross for my redemption.  Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life.  Make me the kind of person you want me to be.  Amen.
